Ashland Community Rally & Flotilla: Defend the Sacred // Shut Down Line 5
Facebook event here

On Saturday, August 5, join frontline communities for a rally and flotilla at Fish Creek near Ashland, WI. Please join us to honor the sacredness of water and call for an immediate shut down of the Enbridge Line 5 oil pipeline, which poses an imminent threat to the Bad River (Mashkiiziibii) and three great lakes.

We’ll gather at Fish Creek, the location of one of the original Anishinaabe camps on Lake Superior. There will be about 20 canoes and kayaks available, first come first served, and feel free to bring your own. Park and gather the boat landing near the “Long Bridge” (map). Setup starts at 8am, out on the water at 9am. We’ll paddle out onto the Fish Creek Sloughs, protected waters south of the bridge. If you choose not to be on the water, there will be a rally along the road with signs. Followed by lunch gathering at Bohemian Hall in Ashland around noon!

This event is being coordinated with a community water festival and flotilla event in Superior (75 minutes drive west) on Sunday, August 6.

Participants are encouraged to attend both the Saturday event in Ashland and Sunday event in Superior! Link to Superior event
