SAVE THE DATE! COMMUNITY WATER FESTIVAL TO DEFEND THE SACRED AND SHUT DOWN LINE 5

Facebook Event here

We are calling on water protectors and climate defenders to come to Superior, Wisconsin for a march, flotilla, and community water festival on the Nemadji River on Sunday, August 6. We will gather to peacefully and legally celebrate the sacredness of water and call for an immediate shut down of the Enbridge Line 5 oil pipeline, which poses an imminent threat to the Bad River (Mashkiiziibii) and three great lakes. Limited camping will be available on site Saturday night and Sunday night. Please check back for updates, and spread the word!

This event is being coordinated with a flotilla event in Ashland (75 minutes drive east) on Saturday, August 5, 8 AM-12 PM at the Fish Creek landing off US-2. Participants are encouraged to attend both the Saturday event in Ashland and Sunday event in Superior. Link to Ashland event here.

The river is calm and slow, and paddling beginners are welcome!

- RALLY AND FESTIVAL -
The rally and festival begins at noon. We are working on the details, but plan to offer lunch for free or by donation. Expect powerful speakers, great live music, fun kids' activities, and lots of opportunity for community-building and expressing our love of the water. If you like fishing, bring your pole--you can fish right off the end of 5th Street by the festival site. Swimming there is not recommended though.
